The Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) is the informal program which strives to facilitate resolution of concerns consumers have about their attorneys or licensed paralegal practitioners (LPPs).
The Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) is a Utah State Bar program that seeks to help consumers resolve problems with their lawyers or Licensed Paralegal Practitioners (LPPs) that they are unable to solve on their own.
For instance, CAP may be able to help a consumer get their file, locate their attorney or LPP, resolve a communication problem, and provide some general information about the legal system. CAP can also provide information about lawyer and LPP ethical obligations to the consumer and provide referrals to other resources and agencies.
Consumers should complete and submit the request form at the link below. Once CAP receives the form, the CAP attorney will reach out to both the consumer and the attorney or LPP to seek a resolution to the problem.
After the matter is resolved the CAP file is closed and the contents are destroyed.
